Q:

How do I order festoon lighting?

A:

Festoon lighting or string lighting are defined as a chain that hangs in a curve. In order to make the ideal product for your project we will need a few pieces of information. First of all what type of lamp holder, this could be Bayonet Cap (BC) or Edison Screw (ES). Next how far apart you would like these and how much cable you need to reach a power source. We can then attach Plugs or sockets at the ampage of your choosing to the ends of the Festoon.

Q:

What floodlights do I need?

A:

Generally all LED now, providing instant light from switch on, floodlights have a beam range of three times the installation height. So if installed at 3m height the beam will reach roughly 10m. In terms of Wattage an 8w LED is equivalent to a 100w halogen bulb, 15w to a 200w halogen, 22w as a 300w and 38w LED same as 500w Halogen floodlight. An 8w light is recommended for installation heights up to 9m, perfect for most homes, with 15w for up to 12m height, 22w up to 15m and 38w for heights up to 18m.

Q:

What outlets can I get on my distribution box?

A:

Well the answer here is almost any. But some advice is probably where to start. First we will need to know what the incoming power will be, this will help us to advise if the output required is possible. Then we will need to know the desired outputs for the distro. KES with PCE offer a wide range of industrial plugs and sockets to suit required ampages, pins and voltages. Finally we need to know if any protection is needed on the incoming or outgoing. This could be RCD, MCB or RCBO but don’t worry we’ll be happy to help you on this.

Q:

What is an IP Rating?

A:

Standing for Ingress Protection Rating, this is a number given to electrical enclosures to define the level of sealing effectiveness against foreign bodies, the first number indicating protection against solid objects and the second against liquids. The higher the number the higher the protection. A chart showing this can be seen here.
